HOW IT WORKS

The Inside Out Programme is approached by its overseas partners with a view to being a partner on one of it's project applications to the Erasmus+ Programme. If the application is successful we then set about recruiting participants to take part through Open Calls made through a wide variety of local, sometimes national networks.

These calls are open to anyone aged 18 and over that has an interest in the theme of the programme.  Specific criteria applies on occasion depending on the needs of the partner.  As we are a UK partner, we look to recruit participants from Northern Ireland In the first instance and then from across the UK depending on the response to any specific call.  Occasionally, participants from border areas in the Republic of Ireland have taken part.

The process involves applicants  filling out an application form and returning it by a set deadline.  Assuming they are successful they will receive a conditional offer whereby they arrange their travel to the location of the programme.  Once this is in place, their involvement in the programme is then officially confirmed.

Under the Erasmus+ Programme, food and accommodation is covered and a travel allowance is also provided by the host organisation which reimburses each participant following the programme.  A distance calculator is used to determine allowance - certain bands cover various countries depending on distance travelled.  In most cases the total cost of travel is covered but depending on connections and when flights are booked it is not always possible to cover the entire cost so occassionally participants will have to cover a percentrage of their travel.

In preparation for and to reflect on participation we like to meet with each successful applicant before and after the programme where possible.  In addition to this each participant must also complete a 'LID Indicator' Form before they depart and once they return so that we can measure learning. We also ask for a written testimonial, focusing on personal development, professional development and how learning will be used in their everyday environment, be that work or otherwise or both.
