What is it?
‘Humour is Serious Business’ is a Training Programme (primarily but not exclusively so) aimed at young leaders, youth work practitioners and other practitioners with a remit for young people that are interested in and committed to the examination and use of Humour as a pro-active and deliberate methodology of engaging young people and other youth work communities.
The programme provides space and time to examine a multitude of questions, matters, issues and concerns related to the use of Humour in an effort to increase skills, knowledge and experience of Humour.
This interactive programme not only allows participants to examine humour in detail but enables them to achieve a greater understanding of the subject matter, enhances their capacity to use it in their work setting and provides them with space to test it in a safe environment.
Philosophy
There are three elements that underpin our philosophy - laughter is the shortest distance between people, laughter is [indeed] the best medicine and finally, what we affectionately call 'The H Factor' where we focus on 'The Heart', 'The Head' and 'The Hand'.
Shared laughter is the one sure thing that will bring people together even in the most trying of circumstance, whilst the medical evidence of the benefits of laughter for health and well being is well established.
'The H Factor' works:
'The Heart' by focusing on your personal development by exploring People, Attitude and Personality;
'The Head' by examining the culture of humour and leading you to greater Knowledge, Reflection and Context; and
'The Hand' by upskilling you in the use of new Techniques, Expressions and Situations
